Holding the Room je součástí série Idea of a Woman. Postava nemá tvář - a ani ji nepotřebuje. Stojí uprostřed prostoru nikoli jako subjekt, který je třeba číst, ale jako přítomnost, kterou je třeba vnímat. Červená barva drží vše pohromadě: tělo, místnost, pozornost. Kolem ní existuje interiér ve fragmentech - pohovka, podlaha, zeď - jako by se prostor kolem její nehybnosti teprve skládal.
O autorovi
Denys Chumachenko is a painter based in Spain.
His work moves between abstraction and the figure — bodies that don't fully resolve, forms assembled from gesture, color, and spatial tension rather than narrative.
Over ten years of practice, he has developed a visual language where the figure becomes a field of internal states: present but unstable, recognizable but not fixed.
Working primarily in oil and acrylic on wood, he builds surfaces that carry weight through color and gesture rather than illustration.
His works are held in private collections across Europe and have been shown in group exhibitions in Spain, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
